Double Cleansing - All the Fuss.
Double cleansing means exactly that. Cleansing twice! But…it’s not as simple as just washing your face two times!
Ok…so you’re wondering why. Surely your skin is clean if you’ve cleansed it. Right?!
This is what I know and what you absolutely need to know.
There definitely has to be some thought in this process and choice of cleanser matters. I would always recommend that you double cleanse at night…remember you don’t want to overly strip your face of its natural oils and upset its function but what you do want is squeaky clean skin.
Why should I double cleanse at night?
At the end of a long day, your skin has been exposed to SPF, makeup, pollutants, harsh weather and bacteria which can cause damage to the protective barrier and can result in pigmentation, redness, clogged pores and ageing. This is when you need to be rescuing your skin and making sure it is squeaky clean to prevent all of the above.
The other great thing about clean skin is that it will better absorb all of the goodness from you nightly actives that you apply like your retinols. Hello bright wrinkle free skin. Winning!!
My advice is to go with an oil-based cleanser first. This is great for hydrating your skin and protecting that lipid (fat) barrier. Oil cleansers are also great for removing makeup and debris from the skin. Then use a water-based cleanser to really get your skin squeaky clean. For those of you who already have oily skin, it might be worth reducing the frequency at which you double cleanse. Try alternate nights.

Lipid Balance Cleansing Oil. A gentle cleanser that removes impurities revealing radiant skin. Great for even really sensitive skin types. Beautifully nourishing. I love this cleanser and it smells so beautiful without having any artificial fragrances.
Surface Radiance Cleanse. This uses mild acids to gently break down impurities and slough off dead skin. Leaving skin brighter and younger. Renewing the cell cycle and supercharging your skin.
Some great tips for that deep clean:
· Take your time to clean your skin but don’t scrub it too hard, you don’t want to damage it.
· Use water that is neither too hot or cold. Kinda like Goldilocks’ porridge it needs to be just right.
· Cleansing wipes, make-up removing wipes are not your friends. (Put down the wipes, Felicia!)
Cleansing is seriously important. We put so much emphasis on all the extras, and potions but forget something as simple as a good cleansing routine.
